Goodbye to DCMumboSauce.com…

November 2007 marked the beginning of an era. But as history has proven to us, all eras must soon come to an end. And it’s with great sadness that I announce that the era of DCMumboSauce.com being a destination for new and upcoming DMV artists is now over.

For nearly 7 years, I’ve seen the DMV music scene grow and change tremendously. And at the same time, I have grown and changed tremendously as well. When I started this site in 2007, I was a young 28 year old that was still trying to carve a place for me in this industry while working full time at a sneaker store and part time doing whatever shift possible at WPGC. The music blog game was new, fresh, and becoming ripe for the picking. I saw a market that was going unfulfilled when it came to the music blogs. The DMV artists had no way to get heard and leave their digital mark. Thus, my reason for creating this site. Fast forward now to 2014. I am now approaching 35 years old, and I am very proud of what I’ve accomplished in my career, and also with this website. However, I still have a lot more I want to accomplish in my career. I have changed a lot over the last 7 years, and so has my goals, my interests, and what I feel in my heart. And honestly, my heart and my interest is no longer into keeping this site going.

Don’t get me wrong, I will always have an interest in the new talent that this city is cultivating. These are exciting times for the DMV music scene right now and we are in a very good place. But as some of you may have noticed, I have not been consistent in updating this site. I would go days and even weeks without posting anything. Again I say, my heart is not into it. And I’m a firm believer that if your heart and dedication is not 100% into something, then it’s best to walk away from it. I never want something that I’m personally invested in, be it with my money or my time, to feel like a job or a task. Despite all of the many different hats I wear, it all feels like fun. It never feels like a job or a task. Have you ever been in a relationship and knew the moment when you fell out of love and could no longer commit to making it work? That is the best way to describe how I feel. I have fallen out of love with running this site.

Some of you may not really understanding why I’m ending this. Some of you may say why don’t I just get someone else to run it. For 7 years, this site has been all me. I’m a stubborn Virgo. We like doing things for ourselves, because it’s hard to trust anyone else to do it for us. lol All jokes aside, it is my truth.

A million thanks to everyone that has supported the site over the last 7 years. I will not take the site offline. It will still remain live so people can go through the archives and check out some real great stuff from the past. As for me, you can always catch me in these streets. My first love/career of DJing continues to grow more and more. And my new love of videography/photography is HUGE. I’m in the early stages of working on a documentary, and continuing to build myself as a brand and branch out into different aspects of this entertainment industry that I love so much. And I love all of you as well that have stood by me. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU.
