Be careful, ya’ll. You know how VA police goes.

From Fox 5:

RICHMOND, Va. – A new law banning motorists from sending text messages and emails while driving in Virginia goes into effect July 1st.

The violation is punishable by a twenty dollar fine for a first offense and a fifty dollar fine for a second offense.

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles reported over twenty-eight thousand crashes involving driver distraction in 2008 and hopes the new law will help to reduce the number.

The new law banning texting and emailing has several exceptions including emergency vehicle operators, drivers who are reporting an emergency, and for drivers who are parked.
