The 2019 Wammie Awards took place this past weekend, and some of your favorite DMV artists brought home trophies. Beau Young Prince landed awards for Best Hip-Hop Artist, and Best Hip-Hop song for his collab track “Kill Moe” featuring Shy Glizzy. Innanet James’ Keep It Clean received the honor of Best Hip-Hop Album, while his song of the same name won for Best Rap Song.

Always repping for the ladies, Rico Nasty racked up for Best Rap Artist, and her album Nasty took home Best Rap Album.

If you’re not familiar with the Wammie Awards, that is perfectly alright. The awards were put on for 31-years by the Washington Area Music Association, but that association dissolved a few years ago. Thanks to a wonderful music-centered youth non-profit known as The Musicianship, the Wammie Awards returned this year…bigger and better than ever!
